Storage
Whilst renewable energy is now cost competitive with conventional sources of energy, today it is not yet able to compete in terms of reliability: put simply, solar panels only produce power when the sun is shining, wind turbines only produce power when the wind is blowing.
To make renewable energy a long-term replacement for base load power produced by fossil fuel and nuclear power plants, we believe that energy networks of the future will require significant investment in battery storage, to help move power from when it is generated, to when it is needed.
Recent years have seen significant falls in the cost of large-scale batteries so that large scale battery projects are already financially viable in the UK.
At Renewable Connections we try, where ever possible, to develop storage projects on all solar projects.
